Hi, I’m Shaina! The food blogger, recipe developer, and photographer behind Served by Shay. I’m just an average girl living and working a full-time job in sunny Southern California with a passion for cooking.
I started cooking so I could control the ingredients going into my food. The food being offered today is far from nutritious and it’s hard to find a product on the shelves that isn’t full of inflammatory vegetable oils, pesticides, and loads of unnecessary chemicals. After being frustrated with the foods being offered at the grocery store, I decided to start cooking for myself and I fell in love with it.
I created this blog to celebrate how nourishing and fun cooking can truly be and to share my love for cooking with my friends, family, and the world. Thank you for being a part of it!

Random FAQ’s
What did you do before you were a food blogger?
I actually went to school for music. I sang opera and have a master’s degree in vocal performance. A couple of years ago I decided to take a different direction with my life now that I’m in my 30s and getting to the point where I’m thinking about starting a family. I now work a full-time job in the real estate industry as well as run this blog.
What are your hobbies?
When I’m not at work you can find me cooking up new recipes in the kitchen, gardening, or hiking. I love being outside.
What is your favorite food?
I could easily live off pasta, bread, and cheese. Someone take me to Italy, I would thrive there. Sit me down in front of a cheeseboard and you’ll have my heart.
